Central Kentucky Cancer Program
When you
or a family member are diagnosed with cancer, you can
depend on the Central Kentucky Cancer Program (CKCP)
to make this trying time a little easier. The
CKCP in partnership with the Ephraim McDowell Health
Care Foundation
aims to enhance local cancer
care services through education, prevention and
early detection while improving the treatment of the
disease.
The CKCP is a unique, community-based program that was
created through a collaborative partnership among the
Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation,
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, local
physicians, cancer survivors and concerned citizens.
The CKCP is supported by contributions from individuals
and corporations throughout a 19-county service area
in central Kentucky.
Among the services provided through the CKCP are:
Prevention. Choosing a healthy lifestyle may
help to reduce your risk for certain cancers. The CKCP
provides community education classes to inform the public
about lifestyle choices.
Cancer Screenings. Because early detection is
vital to winning the fight against cancer, the CKCP
annually sponsors screenings for prostate, skin and
colorectal cancer.
Mobile Mammography. Mammography is the best tool
for detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages.
Ephraim McDowell Health's Mobile
Mammography unit travels to corporate and community
sites in 20 central Kentucky counties, making it convenient
for women in these areas to have this important procedure.
Please call (859)239-1401 to schedule a visit by our
mobile mammography unit to your business or industry.
Diagnostics. State-of-the-art equipment is available
to pathologists, surgeons and other physicians to assist
in the diagnosing of many cancers.
Treatment.
Radiation oncologists,
hematologists and
oncologists provide professional, courteous care
in treating cancer patients, using the latest advancements.
