Ephraim McDowell Health announces two new members on its Board of Directors as well as a new officer who will serve through September 2010. The newest board members are Paul P. DeLuca, M.D. and Dale Kihlman. The new officer is William D. Ruth III, who is the new vice chair.
Dr. DeLuca is a board-certified general surgeon whose practice is Central Kentucky Surgeons. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He served the medical staff as chair of the Department of Surgery and Critical Care and is the current trauma medical director at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He also is a member of the board of directors for the Central Kentucky Cancer Program and previously served on that board from 1998 to 2001.
Dr. DeLuca also coaches youth baseball and served on the board of a local Swim Club and mentored pre-med students. He is a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He and his wife, Denise, have two children: Matthew is a junior studying architecture at the University of Kentucky and Alec is a senior at Danville High School.
Kihlman is retired after working 21 years at Trim Masters in Harrodsburg. He is a director with Heart of Kentucky United Way and a member of the board of directors for West T. Hill Community Theatre. He also chairs the Trim Masters Charitable Foundation Inc. and is a deacon at The Presbyterian Church in Danville. He and his wife, Shan, have one son.
Ruth is a certified public account who owns an accounting business in Danville. He is former president of Danville Country Club and Friends of the Park, which was instrumental in developing Millennium Park. He also previously served as chair of the Danville/Boyle County Recreation Board and the Heritage Community Bank Board of Directors in addition to serving as a board member for the Danville/Boyle County Chamber of Commerce. He is a deacon at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and serves as a board member for the Danville Schools Educational Foundation. He and his wife, Kathryn, have three children.
