Danville, Kentucky – Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care.  Samantha Megilligan, RN, a nurse in the OrthoSpineCenter, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award.  A resident of Lincoln County, Samantha has been caring for patients at EMRMC for four years.

She was nominated by a patient’s family member that said, “I believe all of the staff went above and beyond the usual measures while caring for my stepdad.  I would love to see all of them recognized for a job well-done.  However, Sam went a step further-showing compassion for my stepfather and our family, even after his death.  I wanted to make sure she is recognized not only for being an extraordinary nurse…but a wonderful human being as well.  She should be used as the example that all nurses should strive to be.  EMRMC is a great hospital and will continue to thrive with nurses like Sam looking after your patients…and their families.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout EMRMC, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital.
