Ephraim McDowell Commonwealth Cancer Center (EMCCC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Kim Coulter, RN, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Washington County, Kim has been caring for patients at EMCCC for 13 years.
She was nominated by a patient’s wife that said, “My husband is being treated for colorectal cancer. You can plan for a lot of things but cancer isn’t one of them. Kim taught us how to do his chemo meds at home, being very detailed and knowledgeable with any questions we had. This is very stressful for him and for myself, she was kind and compassionate and laughed with us and put us at ease. She always returns my calls when I have questions regarding my husband’s care and even when I’ve forgotten a step, let me know it was ok and we had this and they had our backs. She’s so pleasant to speak with and we appreciate her so much.”
Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day. Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
