Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center nurse recognized for extraordinary service

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care.  Canaan Bolton, R.N., a nurse in the Covid-19 Unit at EMRMC, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award.  A resident of Lincoln County, Canaan has been caring for patients at EMRMC for 10 months.

She was nominated by a physician who said, “Canaan went above and beyond to make sure that the family of a dying Covid patient was able to visit.  The attending physician was hesitant to put in an order for comfort care and the patient was clearly imminently dying, so she called me to make sure I knew about the consult and to see if there was any way to get the order.  I gave her a verbal order, and the family was able to be at the bedside when the patient passed. So heartwarming to see someone that cares so much about her patients and families.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
