Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Nurse Receives DAISY Award

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care.  Levita “Ann” Hobbs, a nurse in the OrthoSpineCenter at EMRMC, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award.  A resident of Mercer County, Ann has been caring for patients at EMRMC for nearly three years.

She was nominated by a patient’s family member that said, “My mom was admitted to the sixth floor and the nursing care she received was excellent.  I’m a R.N. and have worked in the medical profession for over 40 years so I recognize good nursing care.  Ann Hobbs is the best nurse I’ve ever seen.  Compassion cannot be taught.  You either have it or you don’t.  She is exceptional.  She exhibited kindness, compassion and truly cared for her patients as well as their families.  When I was told by the physicians that my mom needed surgery, however it was not recommended as they felt she would not survive the surgery, we chose palliative care.  My mom was in excruciating pain.  Ann went above and beyond making sure my mom was comfortable.  I chose not to leave her side, as I wanted to ensure I was there when she passed.  She once again made sure that not only my mom was comfortable, but I was as well.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
