Ephraim McDowell Behavioral Health welcomes Dr. Jessica Byrd, DSW, LCSW-S. Jessica has joined the practice with Dr. Stuart Larson, Lee Ann Hunt, LCSW, Samantha Goodlett, PMHNP, Teresa McIlvoy, PMHNP, Kelly Milburn Ramos, PMHNP, and James Stewart, CSW.
Dr. Byrd is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Social Work. She earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Kentucky College of Social Work and is certified to provide clinical supervision. She has 10 years of experience providing outpatient mental health and substance use therapy to individuals and groups of all ages. In addition to her clinical work, she has also taught at the University of Kentucky and provided supervision to clinicians and students. Dr. Byrd has specialized training in addressing trauma utilizing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based intervention. She has a special interest in self-care and has conducted extensive research in this area. Dr. Byrd is dedicated to creating a safe space for all individuals to begin their healing journey.
Dr. Byrd resides in Casey County with her husband and two dogs. She has three adult children, Zachary, Hailee, and David, and two grandchildren, with one on the way. In her free time, she enjoys bird watching, reading, and spending time with her family.
