Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center nurse recognized for extraordinary service

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care.  Cheyenne Campbell, LPN, float pool nurse at EMRMC, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Adair County, Cheyenne has been caring for patients at EMRMC for two years.

She was nominated by a doctor at the hospital that said, “We had a really difficult patient with dementia. He was a little cantankerous, and really struggled with dementia. We had quite a difficult time with behavioral outbursts. As the shift progressed, he became restless/sundowning. She handled him so well. She ambulated him around the floor, and really went out of her way to try to keep him calm and agreeable. It really wasn’t until closer to shift change, as more unfamiliar faces started coming into his care, that he started to get agitated and combative. Cheyenne was so dedicated to his care, that she stayed an hour over her shift to aid in his care until he calmed. I feel like she handles patients like this so well, on a regular basis and she just deserves to be recognized for her time and patience that she brings to patient care. We are so fortunate to have her and I am always thankful to be working with her. She is always available when I need help on the floor, and communicates constantly with me throughout our shift. I always know my patients are in good hands with her.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
