Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital nurse recognized as Daisy Nurse Leader

Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital (EMJBHH) is pleased to recognize and honor a DAISY Nurse Leader.  Kelli Griffin, RN, Emergency Department director at EMJBHH, was one of many nurse leaders nominated for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.  She is a resident of Mercer County and has been caring for patients at EMJBHH for 19 years.

Kelli was nominated by an Ephraim employee who said, “Kelli has served as the Nursing Director in the Emergency Department since 2020. During the time I worked with Kelli I recognized her servant leadership. Kelli is willing to help other peers as well as any Associate who needs help. During 2023, the Emergency Department had zero nursing turnover. This is one example of Kelli’s ability to connect and build relationships with Associates. Kelli agreed to serve as the interim nursing director in the Emergency Department at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) earlier this year. After the EMRMC Director arrived, Kelli continued to help at EMRMC. Currently, Kelli continues to oversee the Emergency Department at Haggin, and she recently accepted to serve as the interim director of the medical floor at Haggin. Kelli is committed to ensure our patients receive quality care across our system. She has taken additional permanent responsibilities such as oversight of the nursing supervisors as well as ED/ICU float pool nurses. Another example of Kelli’s servant leader style is her ability and desire for community involvement. She is engaged in the Fort Harrod Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Harrodsburg Kiwanis. Additionally she attends fiscal court meetings, city council meetings and emergency management meetings in the county. Kelli continues to go above and beyond to help in any way to ensure patients are provided great care. She is inspirational to her Associates. She leads by example to both her Associates and her peer group.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day, as well as the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
