Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) has received a $1.5 million federal grant from the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program.  The grant funding was included as part of a federal appropriations package signed into law on March 8.  U.S. Representative James Comer, who represents Boyle County, helped to secure the grant funding for EMRMC.

EMRMC will use the grant monies toward a $4.5 million project that will see the relocation of its inpatient Behavioral Health Unit from the North Building to the fifth floor of the Johnson Tower, where all other patient care areas are located.  That work is expected to take about 10 months to complete. 

“We are very grateful to Congressman Comer for helping to secure the federal funding for this important project,” said Dan McKay, president and chief executive officer of Ephraim McDowell Health.  “This project will allow us to provide a new home for our inpatient behavioral health patients while also creating space for us to expand our services on the Danville campus.”

A timeline for the overall project has not been established at this time, pending further details on the grant funding.
