Harrodsburg Family Medical Center Transitioning to Walk-In Care to Meet Community Needs

Ephraim McDowell Health (EMH) is pleased to announce they have contracted with EmPact Midwest to provide walk-in care at the Harrodsburg Family Medical Center. This contract is an extension of the existing arrangement EMH has with EmPact Midwest for emergency department staffing services. Harrodsburg Family Medical Center is undergoing this transformation to better meet the evolving healthcare needs of Mercer County and surrounding areas. As part of this transition, care will be delivered by experienced emergency department providers. Effective October 21, the clinic will transition from providing traditional primary care services to offering convenient seven day a week walk-in care.

The decision to shift to walk-in care comes in response to a growing need for accessible healthcare services in the community. By offering walk-in care, Harrodsburg Family Medical Center aims to provide residents with a more convenient option for non-emergency medical needs, reducing the reliance on emergency room visits for minor illnesses and injuries. Patients of all ages can use walk-in care services for conditions such as fractures and sprains, laceration repairs, upper respiratory infections, nausea, vomiting, bronchitis/pneumonia, colds/cough/flu, fever, earaches, eye infections, sports injuries, insect bites, and physicals.

“We recognize the importance of providing accessible healthcare services to our community,” said Nicholas Spoonmore, vice president – Strategic Initiatives, EMH. “The transition to walk-in care will allow us to better serve our patients by offering more hours and shorter wait times for those in need of immediate medical attention.”

The new hours at Harrodsburg Family Medical Center are Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The facility will remain open during lunch and dinner. Harrodsburg Family Medical Center will retain your medical records.  If you wish to transfer your records elsewhere, you may do so by telephone at (859) 734-5770 or by writing to us at 1509 Louisville Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 and signing a release.
