Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation Receives $10,000 Grant from Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation to Support Kids Can Do Pediatric Center

Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation (EMHCF) is proud to announce that it received a $10,000 grant from the Baskin-Robbins® Joy in Childhood Foundation®. This generous grant will help fund key 2025 initiatives at Kids Can Do Pediatric Therapy Center, a vital part of Ephraim McDowell Health’s ongoing commitment to serving children with special needs throughout our region.

Kids Can Do Pediatric Therapy Center provides specialized therapy services to children with developmental, neurological and physical challenges. Through personalized treatment plans, the center offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy, aiming to help children reach their full potential. Annually, the center sees over 1,000 pediatric patients, offering life-changing support for families throughout Kentucky.

A celebration to award the grant was hosted on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 464 W. Main St, Danville, KY with Ephraim McDowell representatives, as well as Baskin-Robbins Team Members and guests. The $10,000 grant from the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing happiness and smiles to children facing hunger or illness, will help ensure that Kids Can Do continues providing these crucial services. With the support from our local Baskin-Robbins franchisee Merana Mangu, we can strengthen the Foundation’s ability to make a lasting impact in the lives of these children.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation and to Merana Mangu for their generous support,” said Laura Richard, Executive Director of the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation. “Grants like this, paired with community partnerships, allow us to maximize the reach of our donor dollars and continue to enhance care throughout our service region. This grant will directly impact children and families who rely on the therapies provided by Kids Can Do.”

In fiscal year 2024, EMHCF raised just under $400,000, all of which will be directed toward healthcare initiatives across our six-county service region of Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer, and Washington counties. From mental health services to state-of-the-art medical technology, these funds—alongside grant support from partners like the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation—help ensure that Ephraim McDowell Health remains at the forefront of providing comprehensive, compassionate care.
