Ephraim McDowell Health is now accepting applications for health care scholarships for the Fall 2025-Spring 2026 school year. Scholarships are available to high school seniors or college students from Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington counties. The application deadline is March 15, 2025.
To be eligible for any of the scholarships, high school students must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1000 and have the intent to enter into an approved health care career program at a regionally accredited college or university. College students must have completed undergraduate educational requirements and be accepted into a professional health career program approved by Ephraim McDowell Health to be eligible for the scholarship.
The hospital, as well as the Auxiliaries at our three hospitals, sponsor several scholarships for students in our communities that aspire to enter the medical field. By completing one scholarship application, students are able to apply for all of these scholarships that they qualify for:
EMH Health Care Scholarship
The EMH Health Care scholarship is available to high school seniors and college students from Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington counties. $1,000 is paid directly to the college or university for high school recipients, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 2.5 or higher GPA during the initial semester; $2,000 is paid directly to the college or university for graduate or professional program recipients, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 3.0 or higher GPA during the initial semester.
Additional Scholarships
Additional scholarships are available through the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Auxiliary.
● Keith & Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship – available to a high school senior from Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington counties who has been accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health, with preference given to students pursuing a BSN degree. The award is $500 for one semester.
● Anne Byrom Memorial Nursing Scholarship – available to a high school senior in Boyle County who has been accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is a minimum of $500 for one semester. Winners can apply for a second semester if the recipient earns a 2.5 or higher GPA.
● Sherry Colleen Durbin Memorial Scholarship – available to a high school senior in Boyle County who has been accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is a minimum of $500 for one semester.
● Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship – available to a high school senior in Boyle County who has been accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is $1,000 for the first semester, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 2.5 or higher GPA.
● Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship – available to a high school senior in Lincoln County who has been accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is $1,000 for the first semester, renewable for the second semester if the recipient earns a 2.5 or higher GPA.
● Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Teen Scholarship – available to a high school senior who participates or has participated in the Teen Volunteer Program at EMRMC. Student must be accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is $500 for one semester.
● Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary Teen Scholarship – available to a high school senior who participates or has participated in the Teen Volunteer Program at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital. Student must be accepted to an in-state college or university to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is $500 for one semester.
● Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship – available to a high school senior from Mercer County. Student to study any of the health care career programs recognized by Ephraim McDowell Health. The award is $500 for one semester.
The programs of study that are eligible for coverage are at the discretion of Ephraim McDowell Health and subject to change.
To apply for these scholarships, individuals should print and complete an EMH Healthcare Scholarship Application available on-line at www.emhealth.org under the Educational Assistance Program in the “Careers” section. Applicants should be sure to include scholastic records and recommendations from at least two instructors and one guidance counselor/advisor. Completed applications and other documentation should be forwarded to Ephraim McDowell Health’s Volunteer Services at 217 South Third Street, Danville, KY 40422 by March 15, 2025.
