Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center nurse recognized for extraordinary service

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Katie Lynch, a nurse on the OrthoSpine Unit, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Boyle County, Katie has been caring for patients at EMRMC for 10 years.

She was nominated by a patient who said, “While I appreciate the care I received from all of the nurses during my stay, Katie was exceptional. She is highly intelligent and operates with integrity, compassion and empathy.  She listened to my story about my battle with alcohol and my health issues resulting from it. She was genuinely concerned about my well-being; asked if I was able to eat at home and was concerned about my pain level from my health conditions. Not once did she judge me. She was excited to hear that I quit drinking in January of 2024. She educated me on nutrition, as I have lost over 100 pounds from not being able to eat. We had long conversations about different things I could try that I had not thought of before. She was not only my nurse, she was my cheerleader. She gave me hope and optimism. She treated me with respect, when so many others have not. Her excellent bedside manner, wonderful personality and compassion made me feel so comfortable. She is definitely a role model for others. Katie made me feel important and worth it. She didn’t just do her job, she made a difference in my life.”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
