McDowell Place of Danville Recognized with Two Statewide Awards

McDowell Place of Danville has been honored with two awards from the Kentucky Coalition for Aging Resources and Empowerment (KCARE). The awards recognize both individual achievement and overall excellence of McDowell Place.

McDowell Place of Danville was among four Assisted Living Communities in Kentucky that were awarded the “Best of Kentucky – Assisted Living” award. The award program is designed to recognize the outstanding assisted living communities in Kentucky. The award also acts to educate local leaders about the profession and celebrates the community’s relationship within the environment it serves and the ways in which the community works to further the senior care profession in Kentucky.

Gina Scott, Activity and Memory Care Manager, was named the “Supportive Care” overall award winner.  The Association’s Professional Achievement Awards are designed to honor those individuals who have excelled in providing outstanding care in a cooperative spirit of teamwork. There are three categories: Nursing Care (Administrative Nurse, LPN, RN); Caregiving (Kentucky Medication Aide, PC Caregiver, State Registered Nurse Aide); and Supportive Care (Activities/Recreation, Dietary, Environmental Services, Social Services/Admissions, Support Services such as administrative assistant, bookkeeping/billing, medical records, other related supportive services).

“This recognition speaks volumes about the heart and commitment of our staff – especially Gina,” said Susan Matherly, McDowell Place of Danville director. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve older adults in this region and to create a place where residents truly feel at home.”

McDowell Place offers five different levels of residences.  Independent living allows for individuals to maintain their independent lifestyle without the concerns of home maintenance.  Assisted living is for individuals who need a caregiver to assist with such tasks as bathing or medication reminders.  Basic health services is offered to residents needing medication administration or assistance with monitoring and medical problems. Memory care is for individuals living with dementia or other types of memory loss.  Respite care is available to individuals who want to see if McDowell Place is right for them or who need care on a temporary basis due to a recent hospital stay or are in need of rehabilitation.
