Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Recognized as a High Performing Maternity Hospital and Named a Maternity Access Hospital by U.S. News & World Report

Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital (EMFLH) has been rated High Performing for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) and recognized as a Maternity Access Hospital in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals ratings. These distinctions reflect EMFLH’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality maternity care for mothers and babies across the region.

The High Performing designation is the highest recognition U.S. News & World Report awards for maternity care. Hospitals earn this rating by demonstrating excellence in key quality measures such as newborn complication rates, early elective delivery rates, cesarean section rates among low-risk patients, and commitment to breastfeeding support.

“Hospitals designated as a U.S. News Best Hospital for Maternity Care are national leaders. This recognition means they are consistently hitting crucial patient safety benchmarks compared to other hospitals,” said Jennifer Winston, Ph.D., health data scientist at U.S. News. “It’s a clear signal to expectant parents about where the highest standards of care are being practiced – when parents see this designation, they can be assured they are choosing a hospital dedicated to exceptional, evidence-based maternity care.”

As a Maternity Access Hospital, EMFLH was also recognized for serving a community with limited access to maternity care, while meeting quality standards that ensure patients receive reliable and compassionate obstetric services close to home.

“The Maternity Care Access Hospital designation is a crucial acknowledgement of hospitals that deliver high-quality maternity care in underserved areas,” said Jennifer Winston. “These 147 hospitals are essential – they meet U.S. News’ strict quality measures for safety and outcomes while simultaneously ensuring that geographical isolation does not prevent families from receiving the care they need.”

The maternity team at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital includes experienced obstetricians, nurses, and support staff who work together to create a safe, patient-centered birthing experience. EMFLH offers a full range of maternity services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, breastfeeding support, and childbirth education.

“We are honored to receive these recognitions, which highlight the dedication of our obstetric team and the exceptional care they provide to mothers and their newborns,” said Lynne Warner Lynn, Administrator of Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital. “Families in Lincoln County and the surrounding communities can feel confident knowing they have access to high-quality maternity care right here at home.”
