Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Riley White, R.N., a nurse on the OrthoSpineUnit, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Lincoln County, Riley has been caring for patients at EMRMC for nearly one year.
She was nominated by a coworker who said, “Although Riley has been a nurse for less than a year, she shows a level of skill and caring of someone who is well-seasoned and very practiced at the art of nursing. Riley was caring for a patient who had been in respiratory distress. She had just started her shift and was aware that her patient was having problems and was very scared. The charge nurse was in to assist Riley with this patient and stepped out of the room. When she returned, Riley was down on her knees praying for the patient. The physician soon arrived and the patient was moved to the ICU. A few hours later, the patient called the unit and wanted to speak with Riley. He told her how much she helped him, reassured him and helped to make a terrible situation a little more bearable. He wanted to thank her and tell her that meant more to him than any of us or she will ever know.”
Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day. Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
