Ephraim McDowell Health is now accepting applications for the Student Volunteer Program

The Student Volunteer Program at Ephraim McDowell Health is a highly competitive program for teens at least 14 years of age who are interested in discovering more about healthcare and what it is like to work in different areas of the hospital. The program begins Monday, June 1, 2026 and will conclude on Friday, July 31, 2026. Hospital needs, applicant interests, skill set, and availability will play a role in determining who would be a good fit.

The ideal Volunteer candidate has the following characteristics:

● The 3 E’s: Energy, Excitement, and Enthusiasm!

● A positive attitude along with a SMILE.

● Time. Ongoing availability and the ability to Volunteer on a regular, weekly basis.

● The ability to commit to a minimum of 60 hours over the summer.

● The ability to embrace change and adapt quickly.

● Previous work and/or Volunteer experience is highly preferred.

● Mature, responsible, friendly, outgoing, and a professional appearance.

Teens must be able to commit to 60 hours over the summer, and Experiential Education classes on Wednesday afternoons are required. The minimum requirement is two, three-hour shifts per week, plus each Experiential Learning Session on Wednesday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Applications are due on Friday, April 17, 2026.
