Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital nurse recognized for extraordinary service

Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital (EMJBHH) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Carol Thurman, APRN., a hospitalist at EMJBHH, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Mercer County, Carol has been caring for patients at EMJBHH for just a few months.

She was nominated for the award by a coworker who said, “Her dedication to the well-being of her patients has been evident from day one. On many occasions she has gone to great lengths to get her patients what they need. One particular patient was very ill and needed to be discharged to a higher level of care. It was Carol that discovered what was wrong with the patient and was able to get him what he needed. She spent hours on the phone to get the patient the care he needed. The family expressed their appreciation for her. Her caring nature makes them feel at ease and they have trust in the care she provides. She sees her patients in the hospital and then will go home and research things to help guide their care. She listens to the patient, family and coworkers. She truly has a servants heart. ”

Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program that honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day.  Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
