Ephraim McDowell Walk-in & Primary Care is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for his extraordinary patient care. Zachary Davis, A.P.R.N., an advanced practice provider who works at Ephraim McDowell Walk-in & Primary Care and Harrodsburg Family Medical Center, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Corbin, KY, Zachary has been caring for patients at Ephraim McDowell for eight months. 

He was nominated by a patient who said, “In October 2025, I had been battling some kind of viral illness that just would not get better. I went to a walk-in clinic and my regular doctor and they wouldn’t treat me because it was, in fact, viral. After a couple days of not getting any better and feeling like I was struggling to breathe, I called and tried to get back in with my main doctor and they couldn’t see me so they sent me to the Ephraim clinic on Lebanon Road. When Mr. Zachary Davis came in to see what was going on and check my vitals he kept re-checking my oxygen and he kept saying your oxygen is low and that he really wanted me to go to the hospital. I finally agreed. Sure enough, they admitted me and I spent a week at the hospital. The next morning after I’d been there the first night, one of the nurses came in and said Zach Davis called to check on you and make sure that you were all right. I was stunned by this. I figured I was just another patient that went through his door and he did what he supposed to do and sent me to the hospital. I have no doubt that in October 2025, Zachary Davis saved my life. I have no doubt in my mind about this whatsoever, his extraordinary attention to detail and plus calling to check on me in the hospital says a lot about his commitment to being a healthcare provider.”
