Daniel E. McKay
President & Chief Executive Officer
Dan is a highly-qualified healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience in senior-level roles. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1988 from the University of Kentucky and then earned a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration in 1992 from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Dan was employed with the Community Health System based in Franklin, TN for 25 years, serving as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer for multiple hospitals and also as Vice President of Operations for two divisions. He joined the Ephraim McDowell Health family in July 2018. Dan is married with four children and enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and following the Big Blue Nation.
Amanda Kinman
Chief Financial Officer
Amanda is a Kentucky native with more than 14 years of experience in healthcare finance. She joined Ephraim McDowell in August 2019 as the System Director of Finance. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Georgetown College and her master’s in Business Administration at Sullivan University. Amanda is married with three children and enjoys cooking, playing piano, serving in her church, and spending time with her family.
Tammy Meade Ensslin, JD
Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel
Tammy earned her law degree in 1996 from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, where she graduated with honors in the top 20% of her class. She is an experienced attorney who has practiced law in Kentucky for the past 25 years. She focuses her practice in the areas of health care law, employment law, contract law, civil litigation and corporate compliance. She is married and has one daughter and enjoys playing golf, traveling and volunteering.
Nicholas Spoonmore
Vice President of Strategic Initiatives
Nick earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Indiana University in 2005 and his master’s degree in Health Administration from IU in 2007. He earned a Fellowship in the American College of Medical Practice Executives, MGMA in 2020 and a Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2021.
Nick provides strategic and operational leadership for planning, developing, directing and evaluating programs and methodologies across the entire EMH system.
Jason Dean
Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness
Jason has 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and joined Ephraim McDowell Health in 2008. He earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2004 from Utica College of Syracuse University in Utica, NY. He completed an Executive Healthcare Leadership and Management program in 2017 from the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. He holds a green belt in Lean Six Sigma and is an experienced examiner for the Kentucky Center for Performance Excellence. Jason is married with two sons and enjoys the great outdoors, sports, traveling and visiting new places.
Lynne Warner Lynn
Hospital Administrator, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin and Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospitals
Lynne has been at Ephraim McDowell Health since 1982 and is experienced in both clinical nursing as well as leadership positions. She is a clinical nurse specialist and is certified as a nurse executive, health care accreditation professional and a faith community nurse. She holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and Centre College and has an MSN from U.K. and also her D.N.P. She serves on the board for the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders, the Kentucky Hospital Association Accreditation Committee, the Kentucky Center for Nursing and Bluegrass Community & Technical College and also is an examiner for the Kentucky Center for Performance Excellence. She is married and has two sons.
Libby Mayes
Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement
Libby is a native of Harrodsburg and has been at Ephraim McDowell Health since 1998. She has held various leadership positions to include director of human resources, Associate education and Ephraim McDowell MedSource. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management at Midway College and her master’s degree in Human Resources at Kennedy-Western University. Libby is married and has two sons and enjoys reading, shopping, watching sports and spending time with her family.
Tonya Goodin, RN, MSN, MHA
Chief Nursing Officer, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospitals
Tonya is an executive nurse leader who worked at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center from 2010 to 2015 as the director of Medical/Surgical and Post-Surgical Inpatient Services. She returned to Ephraim McDowell Health in March 2023 as chief nursing officer at the two critical access hospitals. She has expertise in all facets of healthcare management and administration with a proven track record of improving patient care, leading successful teams, and reducing unnecessary expenditures. In 2014, she earned a master’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix. Tonya is married and has three children.
Rick Jansen, RN, BSN, MBA
Chief Nursing Officer, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center
Rick Jansen is the Chief Nursing Officer at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He has a wealth of knowledge with hospital and nursing operations in a variety of settings. He has served in several leadership roles in healthcare including Director of Emergency Services at a Level I trauma center in Tyler, TX and as a Corporate Emergency Medicine Consultant in Franklin, TN where he oversaw 35 to 50 emergency departments as a resource and content expert. He also served as a Chief Operating Officer at an emergency medicine staffing company.
