Thank you for selecting us for the birth of your baby. Preparing for your delivery is important. It will help to ensure that you have a positive experience. While you are in labor, services are provided by our certified nursing staff. A highly-skilled physician will deliver your baby. They will provide you and your baby with excellent care. As a result, you can welcome your baby in a calming atmosphere.
Prenatal Classes
Preparing for your delivery may include prenatal classes. We offer free childbirth classes. Our certified maternity staff teaches them. The classes cover what you can expect at the hospital. It includes breathing and relaxation exercises and birthing options available. Thus, you will be better prepared for your delivery.
You must register for these classes. Please call (859) 239-2550 or register online if you will be delivering at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. If you are delivering at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, please call (606) 365-4767. The staff will let you know the dates of classes and register you.
Who Will Care For Baby?
We encourage you to select a physician for your baby during the last two months of your pregnancy. This provider will care for your newborn in the hospital. In addition, they will care for your baby after discharge. We provide you with a list of providers available to care for your baby. The list is in the “Preparing for Your Baby’s Arrival and Hospital Stay” booklet. You should have received that booklet during a prenatal visit.
Arriving at the Hospital
If you are delivering at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, you should go to Registration first. Registration is located on the first floor adjacent to the Emergency Department Waiting Area. We will direct you to the Labor and Delivery Unit after you register. The Emergency Department entrance is the only entrance open after 9:00 p.m.
