McDowell Place of Danville offering Senior University

July 30, 2018 – Danville, Kentucky – McDowell Place of Danville will host “Senior University” on Tuesday, August 28.  Senior University is an educational series offering persons over 50 years of age a varied program of learning opportunities designed for intellectual stimulation, cultural experiences and personal enjoyment.

The upcoming program entitled “Senior Swindles” will be presented by Lori Farris from the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office of Senior Protection.  The program explains how seniors are losing $37 billion a year to frauds and scams. Participants will learn about the most common frauds targeting seniors, how the schemes work and how to avoid them. Attendees are encouraged to bring suspicious mail pieces or reports of personal phone scams to share with the group.

The free program begins at 10:30 a.m. and will last 45 minutes to one hour. McDowell Place of Danville is located at 1181 Ben Ali Drive.

McDowell Place is an independent living, assisted living and personal care community that offers four levels of residences.  Independent living allows for individuals to maintain their independent lifestyle without the concerns of home maintenance.  Assisted living is for individuals who need a caregiver to assist with such tasks as bathing or medication reminders.  Personal care is offered to residents who require the assistance of a nurse for care and/or medication administration.  Respite care is available to individuals who want to see if McDowell Place is right for them or who need care on a temporary basis due to a recent hospital stay or are in need of rehabilitation.  The facility appeals to individuals who aren’t comfortable living alone yet want to maintain their independent lifestyle.
