Speech-Language Pathologist earns advanced certification

Ephraim McDowell Health announces that one of its speech-language pathologists has become one of only 14 speech-language pathologists in Kentucky to earn advanced certification in swallowing and swallowing disorders.  Bethany Berry, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-S has completed the requirements to be recognized as a Board-Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders.

All speech-language pathologists are required to hold basic certification for practice, known as a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.  This advanced certification recognizes that Berry possesses advanced knowledge, skills and experience in the field of speech-language pathology.  The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association began offering this program of Specialty Recognition in 1995.

Bethany has been employed at Ephraim McDowell since 2010.  She is the team leader for Ephraim McDowell Rehabilitation at McDowell Wellness Center.  Berry is the President-Elect for the Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
