Ephraim McDowell Health welcomes Dr. Charles Frederick Closson, Gastroenterologist, to the Medical Staff. Dr. Closson will practice with Dr. Edgar Salas, Dr. Ryan Carbaugh and Amanda Murphy, APRN at Ephraim McDowell Gastroenterology located in the Ephraim McDowell Specialty Center in Danville.
Dr. Closson earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in Biomedical Science Policy and Advocacy from Georgetown University (Washington, DC) and his medical degree from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Kentucky School of Medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Dr. Closson is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board-eligible in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. He has interests in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies, and screening colonoscopies.
Dr. Closson and his wife Bethany live in Boyle County. They welcomed their first child this year and much of their time is spent keeping up with him. They enjoy exploring the outdoors with their dog, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. They also keep up with their favorite sports teams from Michigan to Atlanta, and the Kentucky Wildcats.
