Ephraim McDowell Health shining light on Mental Health awareness

Ephraim McDowell Health is proud to announce its participation in Mental Health Awareness Month this May by illuminating its hospitals in green. This initiative aims to shine a light on mental health and promote resources like the 988 Sucide and Crisis Lifeline for those in need.

The 988 lifeline is a vital resource for individuals experiencing mental health crises, providing immediate support and connecting them with local resources. Anyone who is struggling can call or text 988, whether it be someone who is depressed, needs to talk, is contemplating suicide and/or is having a substance use crisis. The crisis counselors are there to listen and support you through whatever difficult times you may be facing. By promoting this service, Ephraim McDowell Health is helping to break down barriers to mental health care.

Libby Mayes, assistant vice president of Community Engagement, Ephraim McDowell Health, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Raising awareness about mental health is crucial, especially as we continue to navigate the challenges of the pandemic. By lighting up our hospitals in green and promoting the 988 lifeline, we hope to spark important conversations and encourage our communities to prioritize mental health.”
