Ephraim McDowell Health Announces Health Care Scholarship Winners

Each year, Ephraim McDowell Health awards scholarships to outstanding students in our service area that intend to enter a field of study in healthcare. This year’s scholarship winners had amazing academic credentials, demonstrated dedication to their communities, excellence in extracurricular areas, and will represent our communities with the utmost integrity as they pursue higher education.

To be eligible for any of the scholarships, high school students must be in the top 25 percent of their class, have a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1000 and have the intent to enter into an approved health care career program at a regionally accredited college or university.

EMH Health Care Scholarship

The EMH Health Care scholarship is available to high school seniors and college students from Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Lincoln, Mercer and Washington counties.  This scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.

Winners of the EMH Health Care Scholarship are:

  • Danville Christian Academy – Brycen Montgomery
  • Lincoln County High School – Hunter Stafford
  • Washington County High School – Izzy Medley
  • Boyle County High School – Braylee Leffew
  • Mercer County Senior  High School – Kobie Shirley
  • Casey County High School – Jake Weddle
  • Garrard County High School – Hunter Caldwell

Additional Scholarships 

Additional scholarships are available through the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital Auxiliary.

  • Keith & Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship – The award of $500 for one semester was awarded to Kathleen “Kate” Briese of Boyle County High School.
  • Anne Byrom Memorial Nursing Scholarship – The award of $500 for one semester was awarded to Norah Martin of Mercer County Senior High School.
  • Sherry Colleen Durbin Memorial Scholarship – The award is $500 for one semester and was awarded to Margaret “Meg” Wilson of Boyle County High School.
  • Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship – These two scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to Brycen Montgomery of Danville Christian Academy and Aleah Stigall of Boyle County High School.
  • Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship – The award of $1,000 was awarded to Jaycee Ruckel of Lincoln County High School.
  • Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Teen Scholarship – The award of $500 for one semester was awarded to Riley Mondie of Casey County High School.
  • Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary Teen Scholarship – The award of $500 for one semester was awarded to Aubrey White of Boyle County High School.
  • Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Auxiliary Healthcare Scholarship – The awards are $500 for one semester were awarded to Ella Davis of Mercer County Senior High School and Kennedy Peavler of Burgin Independent School.
