Ephraim McDowell Health welcomes endocrinologist, Maryam Zia, M.D., to the Medical Staff.  Dr. Zia will start on November 7 and will practice inside the Ephraim McDowell Heart & Vascular Institute.

Dr. Zia is board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism. She went to medical school in Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency training at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Mercy in 2020 and then stayed at University of Pittsburgh for her fellowship in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism.

In the field of endocrinology, her main areas of interest include diabetes, thyroid, osteoporosis, obesity, high blood pressure and disorders of the pituitary and adrenal glands.

Dr. Zia lives in Nicholasville with her husband, Ahmed, and their child.  In her free time, she enjoys travelling, reading and playing board games.
