McDowell Place of Danville will host “Senior University” on Tuesday, September 12. Senior University is an educational series offering persons over 50 years of age a varied program of learning opportunities designed for intellectual stimulation, cultural experiences and personal enjoyment.
The upcoming program entitled “What Science Tells Us About Happiness” will be presented by Beau Weston, Van Winkle Professor of Sociology at Centre College. Happiness is important, especially as we age. Being happy helps to lower our heart rate and blood pressure and also helps us to have a healthier heart rate variability. Beau Weston has taught at Centre College since 1990. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College who earned a master’s degree from Yale Divinity School and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
The free program begins at 10:30 a.m. and will last 45 minutes to one hour. McDowell Place of Danville is located at 1181 Ben Ali Drive.
