Ephraim McDowell Health’s Critical Access Hospitals Obtain Accreditation from the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ)

Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital (EMFLH) and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital (EMJBHH) have been surveyed by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) and have successfully met the requirements for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating compliance with CIHQ Standards and the Conditions of Participation by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This recognition reflects the hospitals’ continuous commitment to safety and quality patient care.

EMFLH and EMJBHH were subjected to a rigorous unannounced onsite assessment in May. The CIHQ team toured the hospitals, reviewed medical records, observed care practices, and interviewed staff and patients.

“CIHQ’ goal is to partner with hospitals to improve the care provided in our communities,” states Richard Curtis, Chief Executive Officer of CIHQ. “CIHQ is proud to recognize Ephraim McDowell’s critical access hospitals for achieving accreditation.”

“CIHQ has changed the stereotype of what surveys are to so many in the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Lynne Warner Lynne, Hospital Administrator at EMFLH and EMJBHH. “They used every opportunity to educate us on what we needed to do to correct or adjust. This survey felt more meaningful and productive than our past surveys. Overall, the experience was positive and impactful for the team.”
