Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital have earned Platinum Level status for their efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue registrations across the state through the DoNation Campaign. The DoNation Campaign is a national initiative that unites the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the organ donation community with workplaces across the nation in spreading the word about the importance of donation.
The DoNation Campaign challenges hospitals and healthcare organizations to “let life bloom” by educating their staff, patients, visitors and communities about the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation, including offering opportunities to register as organ donors. Ephraim McDowell Health’s hospitals earned points for conducting awareness and registry activities between October 2023 and April 2024 and prompting many new donor registrations during that time period.
The 2023 Hospital Campaign continued a life saving mission with 1,307 workplaces helping add 9,134 donor registrations from May 2022 through September 2023
As part of the rebranded DoNation Campaign (previously the Hospital Campaign), workplaces of all sizes and across all industries engaged their communities in organ, eye and tissue donation outreach to sign up new donors. During the campaign, 1,307 partners, including 1,138 hospitals and 169 non-hospital workplaces, worked with donation organizations to prompt 9,134 people to sign up to be donors! In the 12 years of HRSA’s organ donation campaign, partners have added more than 639,399 donor registrations—increasing the number of organs available for transplantation to improve the lives of others.
Every ten minutes, another person is added to the organ transplant waiting list, reaffirming the critical and growing need for registered organ, eye and tissue donors. Visit donatelifeky.org to sign up as a donor today!
