Ephraim McDowell Health welcomes Jacob “JD” Morgan, MD, a fellowship-trained Primary Care Sports Medicine physician and board-certified Family Medicine physician, to its practice. He will see patients at the current Ephraim McDowell Internal Medicine site in Danville.
Dr. Morgan earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Biology from Centre College in 2017. Dr. Morgan completed his medical education at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington and graduated in 2022. He completed his residency training at Self Regional Family Medicine Residency in Greenwood, South Carolina, where he has been practicing since July 2022.
Dr. Morgan has a special interest in non-operative musculoskeletal care for athletes and active individuals of all ages. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports and exercise-related injuries, ranging from concussions to osteoarthritis. He also has experience with ultrasound-guided joint injections, nerve hydrodissections, minimally invasive tenotomy and regenerative medicine.
His goal is to help patients return to the activities they enjoy while providing effective treatment options that do not immediately rely on surgery.
Dr. Morgan is board-certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Morgan lives in Danville with his wife, Emma, their daughter, Hallie, and their golden retriever, Milo. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing any sport available, exercising, and having game nights with friends.
