Ephraim McDowell Health announces the opening of a new primary care clinic in Danville on September 1. Ephraim McDowell Internal Medicine will be staffed by Dr. Karl Hempel, M.D. and located at 640 East Lexington Avenue, Suite B.
Services will include all aspects of adult primary care including acute and chronic illness as well as preventive care medicine. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please call (859) 239-4950 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Karl Hempel.
Dr. Hempel is board-eligible in internal medicine, having completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Kentucky where his focus was on primary care medicine. He served as the primary care chief resident. Karl has a passion for preventive medicine and providing the most evidence-based care possible. He has a special interest in providing screenings for individuals at higher risk for cancer and other complications due to genetic mutations.
Dr. Hempel lives in Danville with his wife, Ashley, daughter, Ellison and their dog, Charlie. When he is not working, Karl enjoys spending time with family, hiking and playing board games with friends. Dr. Hempel grew up in Danville and is a proud graduate of Danville High School, where he was part of the soccer, track, cross country and swim teams. He is delighted to be back in the area where he was born and raised to promote healthier communities.
