Ephraim McDowell offers a new approach to the early detection of breast cancer through our Women’s Breast & Health Center. As a result, you enjoy a spa-like environment while taking steps to detect the second-leading cause of women’s cancer.

Spa-like environment

We offer private changing rooms and a private locker to secure valuables. Patients wait in a tranquil area with plush chairs and a footrest. Relaxing music plays in the background. Because of these features, patients feel they are in a spa-like environment.

Your Exam at our Breast Center

One of our professional staff members will perform your exam. We use state-of-the-art 3D Tomosynthesis for mammograms. This technology moves the X-ray tube in an arc over the compressed breast. It captures multiple images of each breast from different angles. A computer reconstructs these images into a set of three-dimensional images. The image sets minimize the tissue overlap that can hide cancers or make distinguishing normal overlapping breast tissue from tumors difficult. As a result, a small lump can be discovered up to two years before it can be felt with fingers.

We offer bone density analysis and ultrasound if necessary. Because of that, patients can have multiple exams in one visit. This saves time for our patients. We can perform an ultrasound of the breast, abdomen, pelvis, or thyroid.

A radiologist is on-site. The physician reads tests as they are completed. As a result, you can know your test results before you leave. The physician will review your exam results with you in a private room.
