We offer both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Our staff includes a psychiatrist, three advanced providers and three clinical social workers. Our inpatient unit is also staffed by nurses, activity therapists and other support personnel. We provide individual and group-focused activities. As a result, patients learn more effective tools for living.
We have a 20-bed inpatient unit for adult patients. It includes a Senior Adult Program. The unit helps older adults learn to cope with issues in their life. Those issues can include anxiety or depression. They can also include dementia and paranoia. The program is short-term. It emphasizes dignity and respect for each individual.
For inpatient services, patients may be referred by their primary care physician. Family, friends and other health care providers may also refer patients for inpatient services. In addition, patients may self-refer for inpatient services.
We also offer outpatient behavioral health services for adults and children ages 5 and older. New patients will be scheduled only with a referral from their primary care provider.
