Sleep disorders can impact a person’s quality of life. We diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders. As a result, we can help our patients improve their quality of life. We treat patients as young as six years old through adults. Our services include the Ephraim McDowell Sleep Disorders Center and Ephraim McDowell Sleep Medicine.
The Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Because of that, our patients receive quality care. The Sleep Disorders Center is located inside Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Thus, parking is convenient and secure. We offer home-like, private sleep suites equipped with therapeutic mattresses. As a result, our patients are comfortable during their sleep study. Shower facilities are also offered to our patients. We schedule sleep studies soon after receiving a referral. We provide sleep study reports in a timely manner.
Ephraim McDowell Sleep Medicine is staffed by a board-certified sleep medicine specialist. An advanced practice provider who has extensive training in sleep disorders is also on the staff. They diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders. Because of their expertise, patients can achieve healthy sleep again.
You may have a sleep disorder if you are likely to fall asleep while:
- reading a book
- watching television
- sitting in a theater or meeting
- riding in a car for an hour without a break
- lying down in the afternoon
- sitting and talking
- following lunch
- in a car while stopped in traffic
You may have a sleep disorder if three or more above apply to you. We can assess your health to determine if you need a sleep study.

Medical Device Recall
We have received notice of a voluntary recall from Philips Respironics informing us about a potential safety issue for some of their medical devices that Ephraim McDowell MedSource may have provided to patients.
If you are using an affected BiLevel PAP and CPAP device, discontinue use of the device and work with your physician or Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider to determine the most appropriate options for continued treatment. To continue the use of your device due to a lack of alternatives, consult with your physician to determine if the benefit of continuing therapy with your device outweighs the risks identified in the recall notification.
If you are using an affected life-sustaining mechanical ventilator device, do not stop or alter your prescribed therapy until you have talked to your physician. The benefit of continuing to use these ventilator devices may outweigh the risks identified in the recall notification.
A list of affected devices is available at philips.com/src-update.
We will continue working with the medical device manufacturer to plan for your medical device’s repair and/or replacement.
