Wound healing is at the core of what we do at the Wound Healing Center. We are located inside Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital in Harrodsburg. We provide advanced wound therapies in an outpatient setting.
The Wound Healing Center occupies 7,500 square feet of completely renovated space. It has 12 spacious treatment rooms that accommodate wheelchairs or stretchers. As a result, our patients can expect to be comfortable while in our care.
Wound Healing Services
Our Wound Healing Center offers the best in wound healing services. Our treatment options include:
- Wound debridement
- Bioengineered tissue substitutes
- Negative pressure wound therapy
- Growth factor therapies
- Advanced dressings and wraps
Our services include two hyperbaric oxygen chambers at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. During this treatment, you relax on a bed inside a large see-through plastic shell. A television is mounted above the chamber. You can watch movies during your treatment. A speaker system allows you to talk with us during your therapy. Because of these features, you should not experience any discomfort.
During this treatment, the patient is surrounded with 100 percent oxygen at higher-than-normal atmospheric pressure. This increases the amount of oxygen in your blood. Because of that, it allows red blood cells to pass more easily into the wound. As a result of this process, the wound heals from the inside out. Thus, this treatment successfully aids in the healing process. The only physical sensation from the treatment is a slight pressure on your eardrums. This would be similar to the feeling in your ears when a plane lands.
Our providers offer patient-centered care. We value our patients and treat them with respect and dignity. We also listen to their concerns and involve them in decisions about their care. As a result, patients can feel at ease with us.
We develop a treatment plan specific to each patient and their diagnosis. We provide the highest standards of care and comfort to our patients. Thus, our patients receive the best solution for their needs.
