Patients needing surgery can be assured their care is in the hands of highly-skilled surgical teams at Ephraim McDowell Health. We offer surgical services at our three hospitals as well as the Central Kentucky Surgery Center. Thus, patients can have their surgery close to their homes.

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center is recognized as a leader in surgical care throughout Kentucky. The Joint Commission awarded us Gold Seals of Approval™ for total knee, total hip, and spinal surgery. We are the only hospital in Kentucky to hold this honor. Thus, patients receive the best care and recover quickly from these surgeries.

We also earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for hip fractures. We are one of only two hospitals in the state with this distinction.

These Gold Seals are a symbol of quality for the services we provide. As a result, patients can be assured that they are in good hands when they come to us for surgery. Because of these Gold Seals, patients know they will receive the best care for these surgeries.

Surgical Practices

We also have two off-site surgical practices staffed by general surgeons and advanced practice providers. The surgeons can perform minor procedures in their offices. They also have privileges at our hospitals. They perform procedures such as hernia repair, appendectomies, gallbladder surgeries, mastectomies, and colon surgeries.

Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center has invested in modern, state-of-the-art operating rooms. We also offer two of the highly-sophisticated da Vinci Surgical Robots. As a result of these da Vinci robots, patients experience less-invasive surgeries. They also have lower risks for infections and quicker recovery. This is just another example of Ephraim McDowell’s commitment to providing our patients with the best care available. Plus, in 2019, the hospital earned designation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.

The Regional Medical Center also offers a bariatric surgery program. It treats obesity and its related conditions. The program offers both pre-operative and post-operative care for patients with obesity. The program was accredited as a Comprehensive Center in bariatric surgery in 2021. As a result, patients can expect excellent outcomes from the care provided by our dedicated staff.
